OUR MISSION:  to inspire individuals, families and communities within Tanzania by providing means to self-sufficiency through education, health care and employment.

On June 9, 2013, in the middle of a 5-acre field of corn planted to make cereal for the TAFCOM preschool children, nine Kilimanjaro charity trekkers blessed land in preparation for the building of the Minnesota Academy.  The land was purchased in January 2013, with funds raised and contributed by a team of RE/MAX Results volunteers.

From a simple equatorial village in remote Tanzania to the heights of the tallest freestanding mountain in the world to the North American shore, this is a story of perseverance, kindness, sincerity and strength,

Meet Erick; one of our amazing Mount Kilimanjaro mountain guides.  Erick will be travelling nearly 9,000 miles to join us at our fundraiser this year.  All combined, Erick has summited Mount Kilimanjaro (19,340 ft) and Mount Meru (16,000 ft) hundreds of times.  He is personally responsible for the health and well being of our charity trekkers.

Erick's story:  Erick was born the oldest of seven children in a village near Bukoba, Tanzania located on the northwest shore of Lake Victoria near the Ugandan border.  Lake Victoria is second to Lake Superior as the largest of fresh water lakes in the world.

At age 17, Erick's mother, Anna Joyce, died from malaria two days before his secondary school final exam.  Devastated by his mother's death Erick found it difficult to concentrate.  As delaying this final exam was not possible, Erick did not perform well, did not pass his exam and was unable to graduate..

Primary School

Over the past four years  72 individuals  combined high adventure and global philanthropy by participating in several Mount Kilimanjaro charity treks to provide education, health care and employment within the impoverished village of Pasua, Moshi, Tanzania, East Africa.  These individuals helped raised funds for the completion of classrooms at a preschool for orphaned and other vulnerable children (TAFCOM), established micro business loans for thirty women and men to obtain a life of independence, purchased five acres of land upon which to build the Minnesota Academy currently under construction, contributed to Concordia College scholarships for Tanzanian Maasai women and provided 3,000 treated mosquito nets for Kilimanjaro area children.
